ABSTRACT

This study compare factors related to fear of falling among women in the early phase of old age bygrip strength. Researchers selected 1,071 women in the early phase of old age for whom grip strength data were available. In the low grip strength group, subjective health status, osteoarthritis-related lower limb pain, and grip strength accounted for 22.0% of the variance in fear of falling. In the normal grip strength group, age, subjective health status, fall experience within two years, osteoarthritis-related lower limb pain, and depressive symptoms significantly accounted for 17.5% of the variance in fear of falling.
